Are you happy?
I was asked this question at the high school reunion my husband and I attended over the August long weekend. Apparently, the conversation starter caught on and was used by many. I was totally stomped when someone asked me. Not because I am unhappy, but because I thought we were all past the time when we ask those silly questions. Aren’t we?
There was a time when I was obsessed with this question of happiness. In my early twenties. Why else would a friend of mine give me a copy of Bertrand Russell’s
“Conquest of Happiness.” That certainly cured me from asking the question. Reading the book will make you definitely unhappy because it’s so heavy.
